- Fixed price agreed in writing before you leave Madinah
- Luggage loading and unloading, including Zamzam containers
- Direct, private route β no shared passengers
- Driver’s name and number sent to you before pickup
- Flight tracking for your Jeddah departure
Why prices are fixed: Pilgrims finishing their stay in Madinah β often with elderly parents, young children, and days of luggage β are not in a position to haggle over a fare in a hotel car park at 5am. The fixed-price system removes that entirely. Any driver who tries to change the number once you’re in the car is not one of ours.
Distance, Route and Travel Time
You’ll see slightly different numbers quoted for this journey β 400 km, 420 km, sometimes 450 km. Here’s why:
Unless you specifically ask for the coastal road, you’ll take the direct highway β that’s the number that matters for your flight time and for your Madinah to Jeddah Airport Taxi Fare estimate.
Which JED Terminal Are You Flying From?
Every Madinah to Jeddah Airport transfer we run is matched to your exact terminal, so your driver never guesses where to meet you.
Jeddah Airport has three working terminals in 2026, and they are not connected by a short walk β knowing which one applies to your flight before you leave Madinah means your driver drops you at the right entrance.
Terminal 1 β New Jeddah Airport
Saudia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, EgyptAir, Etihad, Oman Air, Kuwait Airways, Gulf Air.
Only terminal with direct Haramain Railway connection. Driver meets you at the departure drop-off kerb, ground floor.
North Terminal β South Asian Flights
Air Arabia, IndiGo, Air India, Biman Bangladesh, SpiceJet and budget carriers.
No Haramain train connection. Highest concentration of unofficial touts near this terminal β your driver waits at the official pickup point, and you’ll have his number before you leave Madinah.
Hajj Terminal β Seasonal
PIA, Air Blue, Air Sial, Air Afghan and Hajj charter carriers.
If you need a private transfer to the Hajj Terminal, we cover it β confirm your terminal when booking and we handle the rest.
Tell us your airline and flight number when you book, and we’ll confirm your terminal the day before β not guess on arrival.

Madinah to Jeddah: Taxi vs. Train, Rideshare and Bus
We’d rather you know every option than assume a private taxi is your only one β here’s how the Madinah to Jeddah Taxi fare compares to the alternatives.
Taxi vs. Haramain High-Speed Train
The Haramain train connects Madinah and Jeddah, with a one-way Economy Class ticket for the full route running around SAR 279 per person. That’s cheaper than a private taxi per person travelling alone, but the maths changes fast for a family β four Economy tickets can already cost more than a shared sedan. It also runs on a fixed schedule and drops you at a station, not your hotel or terminal directly.
Taxi vs. Uber/Careem
Both operate in Jeddah and Madinah. For a 400+ km intercity route, surge pricing applies during busy periods, there’s no guaranteed vehicle size, no flight tracking, and no fixed price confirmed days in advance. For a journey this long with a flight to catch, that unpredictability is the real cost.
Taxi vs. Bus
Public buses cover this route at the lowest price of the three. Longer travel time, fixed timetable, station-to-station rather than hotel-to-terminal. A reasonable choice if budget is the main concern and you’re travelling light.
Airport Touts, “Special Rates” and Shared-Ride Surprises β Named Plainly
If you’ve searched for taxi advice in Saudi Arabia before booking, you’ve likely already read about this. It’s real, and worth naming directly rather than pretending it doesn’t happen.
What we do differently, not just promise:
- Your fare is agreed in writing before your driver leaves for Madinah β never negotiated at the car.
- Your vehicle is never shared with another booking.
- Your driver’s name, number, and vehicle registration are sent to you before pickup.
- We hold a valid Saudi Ministry of Transport commercial licence and TGA registration β ask any time.
If someone approaches you in Madinah or near your hotel offering a cheaper last-minute ride, that’s exactly the moment to walk away and message the number you already have from us.
The Road From Madinah to Jeddah
The Al-Haramain Highway is a modern, well-maintained road β fuel stations, rest stops, and prayer facilities are spaced along the route, so a break is never far away.
- Badr β around 150 km from Madinah, the historic battle site. A short ziyarat stop here can be arranged on request. (We also run this as a standalone Badar Ziyarat Tour β this is the same site, as an optional stop on your way to Jeddah.)
- Al-Hanakiya β roughly the midpoint, with fuel, small cafeterias, and prayer rooms.
Ask any driver who runs this road regularly and the same small details come up β the roadside mosques you pass are usually built from other travellers’ own donations, and a stop at Albaik or a roadside fuel-station cafΓ© is less a “meal option” and more just what the halfway point of this drive looks like.
- Early morning (4β6am) or evening (6β8pm) β cooler, lighter traffic. Daytime highway temperatures commonly reach 38β41Β°C in summer; every vehicle we run is air-conditioned regardless of season.
- Sunday to Wednesday β noticeably quieter than weekends
- Avoid Friday afternoon where possible β prayer-time traffic slows both cities’ approach roads
Madinah, Jeddah and Makkah β How Close Are They, Really?
Is Jeddah near Madinah? Not especially β roughly 400 km apart, a 4β5 hour drive.
Is Jeddah closer to Makkah or Madinah? Makkah, by a wide margin β about 80 km, roughly an hour. Madinah is a half-day’s drive by comparison.
Why do most international flights land in Jeddah rather than Madinah? King Abdulaziz International Airport handles far more international routes than Madinah’s smaller Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport, so many pilgrims fly into Jeddah and travel onward by road or train.
Ramadan, Dhul Hijjah & Rabi al-Awwal β Read This First
During these months, demand on every intercity route in the Kingdom rises sharply, and Madinah to Jeddah is no exception β this is also the leg many pilgrims travel to catch their flight home right after Ramadan or Hajj, so vehicle availability tightens fastest in the days immediately after these seasons end.
Ramadan 2027 is expected in the first half of February 2027, with the exact start confirmed by moon sighting closer to the date. If your travel dates fall in or just after Ramadan or the Hajj weeks, book at least a few days ahead.
For travel during these seasons, we’d rather confirm your price and vehicle by WhatsApp or phone directly than through the online form.
We Understand What This Journey Means
Your Madinah to Jeddah Taxi fare stays the same whether you’re travelling solo or with elderly parents who need extra time.
For Families with Elderly Pilgrims
A long stay in Madinah takes a physical toll, especially on elderly parents. When you book for elderly passengers, your driver knows before arrival β he parks as close as possible, takes every bag without being asked, and gives your family the time it needs to settle in for a 4β5 hour drive.
Best vehicles: Hyundai Staria (wide door entry), GMC Yukon XL (premium comfort), Toyota HiAce (tall cabin entry).
For Female Pilgrims Travelling Alone or in Groups
Women now make up close to half of all Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, and many travel this route alone or with other women. Every driver keeps the journey professional and direct. You have your driver’s name, vehicle registration, and our Makkah office number before you leave your hotel.
Recommended: Hyundai Staria or HiAce for groups; Toyota Camry or Sonata for solo female pilgrims with a confirmed named driver.
What Pilgrims Say
“We finished our stay near the Prophet’s Mosque and needed to be at the airport for a 6am flight. Driver was outside the hotel at 1am exactly when he said. Loaded everything, including our Zamzam boxes, without being asked.”
“Travelling with my elderly father after Umrah β he can’t manage stairs or long walking. The Staria was easy for him to get into and the driver stopped once at Al-Hanakiya so he could pray and rest.”
